Taking Kernel from Kernel.org to vmlinuz

Hi, i downloaded the latest kernel from kernel.org, and its in a compressed file. How can i make this compressed file into vmlinuz? Thats the file that zipslack uses as the kernel. im completely lost. anyone know the command i use to do this?

what you get from kernel.org is the kernel source. You need to compile it first. search this site as it's discussed all the time.

You can't use 2.6.x kernels with Zipslack because 2.6.x (still) don't support UMSDOS filesystem which is needed by ZipSlack. So don't try to compile 2.6.7 (the latest) but instead go for 2.4.26 (the latest supporting UMSDOS).
If you want latest kernel migrate your ZipSlack to native Linux partition with ext2 or ext3 filesystem.
