take a snap shot of an AVI file.


Hi guys.

does any1 know how to capture a single frame of an .avi media file ?

i have tried pausing the media player and using the capture desktop tool, but where the player is, i just get a blank black square.

use a different, lower level, video output like X11. as youre one will be rendering directly to the graphics card. alternatively if you're using mplayer (certainly hope so...) just try...

mplayer file.avi -vo jpeg -ss time -frames 1

easy peasy
