tail /var/log/messages


at my job it is beneficial to have a separate terminal with a more | tail -f on the var/log to quickly see if there is something wrong with the servers or process I am starting on that server.

Are there other logs or tools i should be looking at during server, process starts?

Maybe 'debug', 'secure', 'syslog'... ?
