System won't log out

Hi I have just had Mandrake 10.0 offical on lmy system for a few days now and every time i log the Computer off i have to turn the Computer off with the power switch at the Power down screen,
Could anyone tell me if Ithis is normal as with wWindows once i log off it closes automatically,
Thanks to any who might help

TRY TO GO INSIDE THE CONTROL CENTER AND CHECK THE POWER SETTINGS , IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN THEY SHOULD BE A CHOICE THAT LETS YOU SHUTDOWN THE COMPUTER EVERY TIME YOU SHUTDOWN. ALSO CHECK THE KERNEL MODULES SECTION IN THE BOTTOM. UNFORTUNATELY I AM NOT IN FRONT OF MY PC TO TELL YOU EXACTLY WHAT TO DO

you may need to do a "modprobe apm" as root, then try to shutdown. if this works put it in a startup script.
