system running slow

Hi

I'm running Mandrake 9.1 and also have mozilla 1.4release candidate2 [mozilla versino definately not the problem] and when running a flash game it runs very slow. This is also the same on some of the games which come with mandrake. i have an ati radeon 9700 pro in the system and 512 MB DDR. Fast HD. Checked console and the HD is definately running UDMA. Most likely the card that's the problem.

Is there any way I can get the computer running upto scratch so that I can at least play flash games.

cheers

You may need a driver for your video card.

You may have these tools:
XF86SetupTricks and hints

xf86config
xconf
ATI Linux drivers

You didn't install the developmental packages? As root, command:
urpmi gcc
An Introduction to the Midnight Commander. You can install it by commanding:

I can't install the driver from the ATI page as I have a newer version of xfree86 and the installation fails when I try. I'm on a record.... going to see if I can get every problem I have sorted in one night ;-) I've read that it takes a lot of configuring and editing of the kernel to get your graphics card working in 3d acceleration mode. The card also works at 8x AGP mode... or should I not even head in this direction?

thanks

You might check and see if anyone has anything that works in the mandrake cooker. Otherwise you just have to wait on ATI or revert back to an earlier one that is supported.
