System Recovery Help?

Can anybody tell me what keys I need to press during the restart to bring up the system recovery? I have an HP Mini 1120NR and Edubuntu

From HP's site:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...roduct=3860346

Did you try to look in their manual?? From that page:
Quote:

  1. Turn on or restart the notebook, and then press the Esc key repeatedly while the F10 = BIOS Setup Options message is displayed in the lower-left corner of the screen. The System Restore page opens.
  2. Use the arrow keys to select System Restore , and then press Enter .
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to recover the system.

Be aware that a RECOVERY will totally wipe out everything on your drive. Did your laptop come pre-loaded with Edbuntu on it? If not...you'll wind up reloading Windows XP or whatever came on it when you bought it.

What problem are you trying to solve?

system crashed...help!

I need your help. In the middle of the formatting process, (I wanted the formatting process), my power went out. Now I'm getting an "Error 15" message. what can I do?

EDDY1 08-29-2010 03:45 AM

If you did your installation by cd you could posibly use the cd to boot into the system. I hope you weren't reformatting your disc and erased mbr. I whiped out my hd on my first linux installation.

Well, if the keys to get you into the recovery partition don't work, as EDDY1 said, your MBR/partition table may be gone. The only option you then have is to re-install via CD/DVD.

Often times, there are recovery discs that can be obtained from your manufacturer, that will rebuild your system (including the recovery partition). They are sometimes free, sometimes a small ($20) charge. However, if you've got a laptop....the power going out wouldn't make any difference at all, unless you had a dead/removed battery, and were just running off AC.
