I am running a dual opteron cpu system and I am getting reboots when ever I stress the system I am not sure how to look at logs so I can tell if it is a hardware or a software problem.
the Linux I am using is a Debian based OS called Crunchbang.
Maybe it is overheating? Try opening computer case, blowing dust away, and than run stress test again. I run distributed computing project all the time and as long my computer is fit it won't reboot.
my system under load wit hall 24 cores running Folding at home is about 32c . before I did a reinstall of the OS it ran 36 hrs with out any problems.
But I had read that if the OS was installed on ext3 I would get better numbers so I did that now I get reboots when the system is stress
