System log viewer messages grey font.

Does anyone know why some of the font is a readable black and
other parts, usually the date/time but sometimes the whole line
is a very hard to read grey ?

Can you tell people what distro, desktop/wm and specifically which tool
you're using? My "system log viewer" is tail, and doesn't do colours
at all ;}

It is Fedora 11 x86_64 gnome-system-log and i was looking at what is simply called : messages - System log viewer
Pasting a section to here changes the feeble grey to black, but that is interesting to know all the same !
