System freezes after NVIDIA

SUSE 8.2/9.0/9.1 Personal

After installing NVIDIA Driver mouse works but nothing else. I tried SUSE 8.2/9.0/9.1 Personal but the same thing happens after the driver installation. I know that this particular M/B is a bit old but is it the M/B, or something I do-or I do not do?

The same system was working with WinXP Pro. I tried to update the BIOS, but the company seems to have shut down.
