Syncing shadow file with passwd file

Hi all,
I have problem that shadow file does not contain all users present in passwd file, is there any way to sync them so that all users are same in both files

welcome to the forum!!

They are the same on my system----do you know how yours came to be different?

More importantly, these are files that you would not normally ever edit directly---is your system working correctly?

Check which users are missing in the shadow file and try to discover why.
Maybe someone tried to disable accts manually instead of using the correct tools.

You may want to use this tool http://linux.die.net/man/8/pwck to sync the 2 files properly.
DEFINITELY take backups of both files before doing so, and ideally take the system into single user mode first.
