I cannot seem to get my Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty Jacolope) to recognize my Dell Axim X50. I want to synchronize my contacts in Evolution with those in my Axim. Anyone solved this challenge yet?

All the other applications and installs seem so easy. Why is this procedure difficult?

Has no one had this problem before now? I'm not new to computers nor electronics (just to Ubuntu); but this challenge is frustrating me. I've searched high and low for FAQs that respond to my question; but I have located none that seem to provide the procedure(s) to answer it.

I've got an old WinXP machine that I've converted to Ubuntu 9.04. The two challenges that I've come up against is the synchronization problem with my Dell Axim X50; and the other is the easy or simple and correct transfer of contact/address book information from Outlook to Evolution.

Would Thunderbird be an easier way to transfer the contact data?
