sympthony os problem


i recently installed a new os sympthony os now it installed fine so i loged in and it stared out in the terminal so i typed the startx command and it loaded but it went to a gray screen with a mouse pointer thats an x and that was it nothing else appeared i couldnt click i could move the mouse but that was it if any one has any soultion or any possible way i can get it to work right please let me know thank you

i currently have a dual boot sytem if that would cuase any problem like this it seperated as a 7 gig windows partion 1 gig swap and and 2 gig sympthony linux os i also have a radeon 9200se if that would help in any way shape or form it has a s video dvi and vga port with 768 megs of ram useing a amd athlon 64 3400 on a asus a8v delux board

It seems that you didn't specified that which will be your default GUI interface. Symphony OS has Mezzo desktop interface which use FVWM window manager.

In terminal, login as root and try :

fvwm config

Configure your interface and then try startx. this should solve your problem.

it said inviald option when i did fvwm config in the terminal

it just said inviald option then said fvwm usage and showed all the option and what they did i tired each one and siad it couldnt find the config file

so then i loaded my live cd it loaded fine then i copied the x11 directoriy to the etc/x11 on my hard drive thinking that sice it loaded fine it would work but now it loades then startx x windows itself and goes to a black screen and that it

would it have to do with my installtion becuase i used the debian version rather then choosing the knoppix version or same as cd version

i also couldnt find the file that mentions default window manager
