.swp files

In RedHat linux .swp lifes are what kinda files if we delete these files, does it matter or not. like what i am asking is that are these files some kinda system files or what.

These are most likely swap files, in which I would just leave them alone.

think of .swp files as files currently in use. For instance, if you are using vi to edit a file, then you switch to another consol and start to edit the same file a .swp file will be created. In most cases, you can delete these, or

cat .swpfile | more

to see what is in them. Chances are it will contain things you've worked on.
