Switching from Xfce to Compiz

Hi all,

I have been trying to get the 3D cube for my desktop manager/ window manager. I downloaded all the Compiz packages because I was told that is what you need to get the 3D cube. I have a Motherboard w/NVIDIA C51MV w/o 1394 (FRU). My graphics card is integrated on it. I believe it should do well with the new manager. My problem is, I am using Xfce for a desktop/window manager and I dont know if I need to replace it with Compiz and if so how do I go about doing so. My only goal here is to get the 3D cube. Im sure everyone knows what that is.

Yeah, compiz is just an extention for xorg I think? I don't remember, but I do remember before the cube and compiz worked with XFCE. It's too bad the cube only does 4 desktops and not 6 (top and bottom).

i finally upgraded to Ubuntu 9.04 and got it to work somehow.Compiz will do 6 work spaces. mine does up to 12. However it still does not do skydome, top and bottom, workspaces. I find that the 4 with the cube is all i need. i dont really need a hexagon for a workspace manager either let alone a dodecagon unless im trying to show off.
