switching from Metacity to Enlightenment

Ok ok- I am one of these newbies that is getting knee deep in the Linux world. I figure the only way to learn something is to screw it up half a million times.

I am currently running Debian Sarge and love it. After looking into themes, I noticed that alot of what I want to use are not for Metacity. I looked at Enlightenment and have it "halfway running" on my PC.

I am having problems with getting it to be the default window manager. In Enlightenment it was telling me of a file I need to edit to fix this. It was:

export WINDOW_MANAGER=enlightenment
exec gnome-session

Now, I have looked for this and cannot seem to turn up anything.

I guess another issue would be this- When I run Enlightenment, I have no menu's. I understand that the menus all pull up with the 3 mouse buttons, but I have seen people screen shots that are running Enlightenment and they have the Gnome "looking" menus at the top. Is there anyway to create that?

I am having a good time learning all of this. I am deployed in Iraq and do this when we are not running missions. I have been using Linux for the last 2 or so months and will not go back to Windows. I love this program and am trying to find more time to learn everything about it. Any help you can give me about these problems would be great.

Thanks for your help and time,

SGT "B"

Are you using e16 or e17, e17 uses some different things, and looks a bit differnet.

You can always run the gnome-desktop inside englightenment, but it will basically just take over..., get rid of the desktop.
