switching bit torrent off under Fedora 8

Just installed fedora 8 on my pentium III (coppermine) cpu. Everything runs great. Except for tonight the CPU is spiking to 100% usage and when I disconnect from the internet, it drops back to 18%. Wondering of bit torrent (shipped with this disribution) is 'on'; and if so, how I could 'turn off'?
Thanks in advance folks.

Bitorrent isn't on all the time. You have to be running the application. There are many programs that are bittorent aware, but they only use cpus if you are downloading.

Use the command line command 'top' to see what processes or applications are CPU resource hog(s).
