Switch from installer to command prompt and back

I was installing Zenwalk 7.4 (based off slackware)

A part requires exiting to the command prompt, from the installer, to make directory and mount the USB stick to it.

Afterwards, I cannot get back into the installer without rebooting, which loses the mount.

What is more frustrating is that it does not allow me to use the F2 F3 consoles until I've exited the installer on the F1 console.

How do I get back into the installer from the command prompt? Please include codes and syntax (do not say "make this directory and mount it" or anything vague and ambiguous... not everyone is a pro)

I have never installed Zenwalk. That said, the universal way to get from the command prompt back to the program that opened the terminal is to issue the exit command:

exit
