Swat not working


Samba Ver
Version 3.5.10-125.el6

added this to /etc/xinetd.d/swat
service swat
{
disable = no
port = 901
groups = yes
socket_type = stream
protocol = tcp
wait = no
user = root
server = /usr/sbin/swat
only_from = 127.0.0.1
log_on_failure +=USERID
}

this is my etc/xinetd.conf file
defaults
{
log_type = SYSLOG daemon info
log_on_failure = HOST
log_on_success = PID HOST DURATION EXIT
cps = 50 10
instances = 50
per_source = 10
v6only = no
groups = yes
umask = 002
}
includedir /etc/xinetd.d

I ran netstat -tpan an got this

when I run wget --server 127.0.0.1:901

Connecting to 127.0.0.1:901... failed: Connection refused.

Can someone please help me on this. I can give you what ever info you need.

What linux distribution/version are you running?

Is xinetd running?

samba swat not working

I am running centos 6.3 and xinetd is running

Try restarting xinetd.

I wished it was that easy, I did I restarted the service and then restarted the server and made sure the service was running after the restart of the server.

How did you install swat? Did you use yum or install from source?

The purpose of xinetd is that it listens for incoming requests in this case port 901 and then launches swat. So starting swat independently of xinetd is not necessary.

I installed swat from yum.
