Swapping hard drives

So i installed linux mint 16 64bit on a laptop and then took the harddrive from that laptop and connected it to my desktop using a spare sata cord on my motherboard. So will there be any bad side effects to this or should everything just be fine.

That depends on what you intend to use your Linux Mint hard drive for. It is configured for your laptop hardware and it would be a matter of luck if it will run OK on your desktop without making several changes. Try it and see.

Im actually using it right now. everything seems fine but is there a way i could reconfigure linux mint to my desktop hardware?

Do you mean its fine using your laptop or running in your desktop?

For the most part, linux boots to the devices. If you need some device to work then you need to look at if there is support in the distro already, if the device has wrong driver or if you need to add in a driver.

sorry it seems i have abandoned this thread a while ago.

but if anyone is still listening linux mint seems to run fine on my desktop.

but sometimes only my router disapears in the list of wifi connecitons.

and the only way to get it back is to turn off my pc and inplug it for a few seconds.

once again sorry not replying
