Is there a way I can check from the command line if susefirewall2 is running, instead of having to go into yast2 ?

susefirewall2 is, if I remember correctly, actually a bash shell script (a well-crafted one) that configures iptables based on the settings put in /etc/firewall.conf or some such config file.

You can watch susefirewall2 "in action" by using the command `tail -f /var/log/firewall` as root.
