SUSE9.1/YaST Online update offering same file versions??

Hi..

When I try to use YaST online update I'm offered a list of "Updates" but they're the same versions as the installed versions. If found a link on SUSE portal but I'm not allowed to post links until I have 5 posts. If you search with these keywords ->you update alt patch in SDB you'll go right to it. It's not clear what version they're talking about (I think v7.1). If what they say is true that's an interesting way of applying updates but I suppose can be done easily enough. Has anyone run into this issue using SUSE or am I doing something wrong?
As a note of reference I did start the FTP download at one point and had to abort it (version9.1). When I sat down to redo the install the installer saw a "previous OS" (no doubt very incomplete) but I chose to install a "New OS". Everything is working fine except this little issue. I wonder what would happen if I just said go ahead and install these same version "updates".. maybe YaST would be happier?

If i do have to create a boot CD how do I go about applying the patches from there?

Thanks for any help you can offer.
