SUSE10 and slow internet speed

I have searched for days for an answer. I just installed SUSE10 and am dual booted with WinXP.

I have Comcast cable and have 6000/358.

I always get that speed in XP but the avg. I get in SUSE is about 250kb.(bits) UL speeds are respectable at around 230 but I usually get about 350.

I've done many tests in different places at different times and no luck. I can go right back in XP and the speeds are close to advertised again. I'm a Linux newb and have only used it for 3 days.

I've looked in the YaST Control at the settings and it sees the correct NIC. I have it set to automatic setup by DHCP. I do see that localhost was correctly set upon install.

Searches have brought me to look at /etc/rc.local or /etc/boot.local but I can't find either file. I went out and bought SUSE Linux 10 Unleashed but I can't find what I'm looking for.

My modem is a Motorola Surfboard SB5100 if that might matter.

Any help would be appreciated as I think I'm going crazy.

Just a little question, how is it connected? USB or Ethernet?

That link is the HCL entry which might give some ideas. (Please post if you get it working!)

I believe so.

I checked in XP under Belarc and the address is the same there as the Network Device eth-id address in Linux. I hope that means it's the same.
