Question SuSE startx error

Hi all,
When i type startx in the console, i get this error.

Could not init font path element /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/local, removing from list!
Could not init font path element /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/CID, removing from list!

Please help me fix it. I'm using SuSE 9.2 and KDE 3.4
Thanks.

This is probably the wrong way to fix it, but since noone else has answered this thread, maybe this response will provoke the correct answer.

I simply comment out the lines in /etc/X11/xorg.conf corresponding to any fonts that can't be loaded, that way I don't get the error messages.

Cheers

Thanks for you reply but that still didn't work.
I also tried by typing "startkde" in the console then i got "kdeinit: aborting $DISPLAY is not set error".
I struggled and finally was able to start kde. I found 2 ways of doing it.

1. login as root in the console then type "init 3" and then type "init 5". that started kde.
2. login as user then type "xinit" then new console will be open and type "startkde" in the new console. that also starts kde.

Can anybody explain what i'm doing here? It is strange that i can't start kde by typing "startkde" in the console.
Please help me configure this.
