suse not remembering the hostname

Hey i'm having a problem with changing my hostname i change it with the command

hostname <newhostname>

but it doesn't remember the change after i've restarted the system

any ideas?

Hi

Changing the hostname like you have is temporary until you reboot. If you want to make it permenent, as root, go to /etc/hostname and change it to whatever you want.

Try YaST->Network Services->DNS/Hostname. There you may specify a name and make sure that it won't be altered by a DHCP client.

One other question, i can now access my music with "smb://suse/music" on my mac, but I can't connect to it with my windows machine with "//suse/music"

is this more of a windows issue?
