Suse Linux 9.0 Ftp Installation Help
 

Hi, Ive been trying for two weeks to install Suse 9.0 from the suse ftp website and was eventually successful (7+gb) is this normal? I then read that you need to create a boot iso, so you can boot it from cd. I did that and have tried lots of things but my pc wont recognize this cd! It flickers a couple of times and then boots to windoze xp as normal.

Any suggestions?? I'm stumped! I hope its something simple.

have you gone into the bios and checked the boot sequence? Press DEL or F2 or whatever to enter the bios and make sure cdrom is first on the list.

how did you start the suse install if you cant get it to boot to cd???

7 gigs sounds like you downloaded the entire FTP directory. Yes, you need to download the Boot.iso and burn it in order to install from the directories you downloaded. You can choose a local directory and point to it during the FTP install.
