SUSE LINUX 8.2 - Partitioning
My system is set up as follows: Win XP 120gb Western Digital hard drive partitioned with NTFS Drive C: & E:. 40GB Maxtor Hard drive - on which I want to install SUSE Linux 8.2. Currently formatted as NTFS Drive D:. The 2 hard drives are set up using a hard disk RAID connector Driver is "Promise 376 Serial-ATA" on an MS6570 motherboard. IDE1 is 120GB IDE2 is DVD (master) CDRW (slave) IDE3 40GB. Both hd are 100 UDMA.
During install process I cannot access the 40GB hd as this does not appear in the partition set-up part of the install. I tried to reformat the 40GB drive to FAT32 but with the same result.
How can I therefore configure SUSE to recogonise the RAID hard drive configuration and therefore install Linux to the 40GB hd.
My only other thought on this would be to make the 2nd hd slave to the 1st but would rather avoid this if possible.
I have also taken the raid configuration "out of the link" but again the 40GB disk is not recognised.
Is there a way of manually telling the partition manager to point to the 40GB drive as all it wants to do is cut up the 120GB which is not want I want?
