SuSE is my choice
Hello
I'm a fairly new user to Linux (at least in a serious way) and I would just like to let everyone know how user friendly I have found SuSE 9.1 PRO & SuSE 10 to be to new users! SuSE installs are the easiest I have come across, YAST the package manager and system config program is awesome! (much like the Windows Control Panel) and so setting most things up is a breeze. I have been using various SuSE distro's for some months now, and it's been a pleasure. Try SuSE now if you have been thinking about it. It is very nice, SuSE 10 more-so if your favorite color is Green! tlp_ |
I'd add to that: try Ubuntu Linux too. It's Synaptic makes installing new apps very easy, gives you a chance to choose between Gnome/KDE/XFCE (Ubuntu/Kubuntu/Xubuntu) default desktop installation, is quite small (only one cd install/one cd live/one dvd both) and works like a charm. Very very user friendly. Installation is, especially should be in the new version coming up in June2006, very easy and is the first distribution I know that can install itself easily into empty HD space without trying to destroy existing MS Windows, so dualboot-installation is just as easy as a regular one.
Just a recommendation..Ubuntu is the best I've seen this far, and I've seen many :) almost from the beginning of the story of Linux. |
I agree about Ubuntu--I also am learning Arch, which has a lot of good features.
But---OP has decided on SUSE |
suse is the first linux i have tried and apart from some nagging problems its wonderful

Finding the right distro is like finding the right car, it has to suit your needs...
