SuSE ftp install missing packages?

I'm trying to do an FTP install of SuSE 9 to try it out before I buy.

No problem connecting to both the primary and mirror sites, and it appears to download the entire file (~47MB). As it starts the actual install, the screen comes up with the menu of options and under the software heading it just says "error" and that there is no media available. I cannot install anything, since I can't clear this error.

I have tried several mirrors, all withe the same result.

anyone, anyone?
