SuSe audio problems (audigy ls)

I have the audigy ls running with ALSA and it works great playing mp3s in kaffeine. The problem is, it sounds terribly scrathy when in any other applications and the normal KDE sounds. I have an NVIDIA onboard sound card thats not configured too, it doesnt seem to conflict though.

I just want to play Super Tux with clear audio.

I have had this problem in the past...go to the mixer settings and put your volume and pcm bar to 90% or lower that should sort it if you have the rifght audio driver set.
