Suse 9.3 with VMware--mount cd

I have GSX server on OES Suse 9.3. I've inherited this machine. I am in the process of rebuilding. I can't get the darn cdrom to mount so I can install some backup software. I've got the vm's tarred and one of them gziped. Now I want to back up those files.

How to I get the cdrom to load.

dev/hda link is dev/cdrom mount point is /media/cdrom

I've had Linux training but not done much on the job until I inherited this problem.

It's late and I'm wanting to go home so any input would be appreciated.

To mount a device just type in
Code:
mount /dev/devicename
IE
mount /dev/cdrom
