Suse 9.3 Linux Verizon Usb720

I've read and followed the chronicles of replica9000 regarding "Linux - Wireless Networking". After creating/modifying the '/etc/ppp/chap-secrets', '/etc/ppp/peers/verizon' and '/etc/chatscripts/verizon-connect', I ran into a problem with the LINUX recognizing 'ttyACM0'. Command 'lsusb' revealed that my VERISON USB720 as 'Vendor=1410 Product=2110', but my problem was "Failed to open /dev/ttyACM0: No such device or address".

I cannot seem to get LINUX to recognize 'ttyACM0'. Since I am new to LINUX, I haven't figured out how to configure the USB device using 'setserial'. Can anyone get me over the hump?
