Suse 9.3 boot

Ok I instaled Suse 9.3 and it goes through GRUB, I think it's called, where I choose the OS. And after I select Suse it goes through all the start and finding hardware thing then as it gets to the end of loading it goes to a text interface like dos and I can't get to a desktop or anything. I already tried changing the init to 1, 3, and 5. I don't know if that has any effect, but I have no idea what to do now. Please help me.

This means that SuSE is properly installed, but you need to get the window system to work.

What happens if you type in "startx" (without quotes)?

The problem is probably that either the X window system (or the equivalent window manager that SuSE 9.3 uses) is failing to initialize, or it is not installed. The second is unlikely with SuSE, but possible if you made manual selections and missed it or are trying to install on too little disk space. Either way, typing in startx should at least put some information on the screen for you to analyze.

The solution is likely as simple as using a hardware configuration utility to properly identify your hardware to the window manager. You can run SAX from the command line interface (CLI) to do this configuration. Stick to the SuSE documentation!

Finally, looks like a similar problem here:
