SuSE 9.2 Sound issue

Help Please,
I am very new to linux, still have XP's desktop burnt into my eyes. Anyway I installed SuSE 9.2 Pro (Complete install) and my audio (MP3's & CD's) work fine with XMMS but not any other players. Also all of the games have really choppy sound too. I like using XMMS for my music so the system & game sounds are what I need to fix. I am using an Soundblaster Audigy LS card. Please be easy on me, I'm new but very dedicated to using LINUX.
Oh I am using KDE if that makes a difference.
Thank You

I got it figured out. i had to reduce the skip prevention to 8 milliseconds in the control center-sound system. now everything sounds normal.

I guess my next question would be: can you get the Kmix not to default to mute on bootup. Any help would be great.

Thanks again
