SuSe 9.2 Samba Client problem - I think

I am totally new to Linux so please be patient.

I installed SuSe 9.2 last week using a USB port to connect to my network. Got Samba Server and Samba Client working so that I could see and be seen on my Windows machines.

I decided to install a dedicated NIC for my network connections - a D-Link DFE-530TX. I installed the card, restarted, the card was detected without problem.

When I use the Konqueror file manager to look at the local network I click on the 'Windows Network' icon as before which previously gave me a list of the Windows machines on line. Now if I click on the icon I get an error message saying:

"Error while connecting to server responsible for smb:/"

Can anyone tell me how to correct this error please?

If I type "smb:/name_of_windows_machine/" I can still access the Windows machines so the Samba Client is still working.

Grateful for any help.
