Suse 9.1 will only install in text mode
 

First off let me say that I am new to Linux (which would explain why I am posting in the Newbie section)
I am trying to install linux on a Dell Optiplex GX110 which is a PIII 633 with 128MB of RAM on it.
The problem I am having is that it will only install in text mode, I can not use the graphics mode & then once installed I can't seem to use KDE or Gnome.
What could be the problem?
I have installed Suse on another Dell which was a PIII 500 & it seemed to work ok

why cant you use the graphical install... (error message ?)
what happens when you loggin and type "startx" ?

have you set KDe as the default window manager ?

is KDE installed ?
is X installed ?

When I installed it on the other PC I got the installation GUI mode, not text mode,
this time when I am trying to install it I am not able to get to the GUI mode & I have no option to install Gnome or KDE.
There are no errors coming out at all.

With 128mb suse was supposed to install graphical env. correctly. If you can't even choose it in install time, I think suse has some issue with your graphic card/monitor, that prevents is from running graphical.
Or, you are skipping some option in the install process.

ive not used suse but in other distro's when you boot the install cd, you get a command line,, it kicks off the install in GUI or text depending on what you type.

F2 usually gives some usefull info.

also.. why not just install with text mode... will it kill you to push a kew extra keys ?

I simply want to learn the install process both ways.
Under F2 it says 640x480

have you tried the "Safe" settings? It is one of the options on the initial bootup menu (boot from hard disk, start installation, safe installation. etc)
