Suse 9.1 problem... Kaffeine and XMMS

I just installed right out of the box.
I am able to see my windows network.

I double click on a picture - it opens

I click on an MP3.. nothing
I click on a movie file.. I get a XINE error

If I copy these files locally, I am able to play them fine, just not on the linux partition...

Is there a way to play them over the network?

I have no clue as to what could be wrong, I've never used SuSE, but I can tell you it should definitely work.
Works fine for me over my network here at university, using a mixture of Gentoo, FreeBSD, Windows, And RedHat. :)

Try to run xmms from the commandline and point it to the file that you want to run. It should spew out a rather helpful message as to why it refuses to read it.

I was just using the GUI to click on the files.

Do I need to mount the windows partition first?

or since I can see them thru samba.. does that mean its mounted already..

So confused.

it is alrady mounted
from a terminal, type this:
Code:

xmms //path/to/mp3/file
and report the error message

did it

it opens XMMS
it opens the Play Files dialog

but i dont see my files

even if i go directly to one

no error, just doesnt see them, and i dont see where to go in the play files dialog

i type
xmms //computername/directory/filename

and even

xmms smb://computername/directory/filename

does the same thing
