SuSE 9.1 multiboot GRUB Problem????

Before installing suse i had dual boot winxp system.
Partition table
/dev/hda1 primary ntfs windowsxp
/dev/hda2 primary
/dev/hda5 logical ntfs windowsxp
/dev/hda6 logical ntfs no system
/dev/hda7 logical swap
/dev/hda8 logical ext2 /boot
/dev/hda9 logical reiser /
Yast has detected windows and even left it in the options in the menu.
When I tried to boot windows I expected to view windows boot menu
after pressing on the windows, but the error is:

unknown filesystem
rootnoverify (hd0,0)
chainloader +1

Grub is installed in the MBR.
After that I formated MBR from win98 cd with fdisk/mbr,
now after booting I get message: missing file system

Help!!!

P.S.

Funny, but everything worked with SuSE 9.0

You probably need to set your first partition active. It is needed to be bootable.

At this point probably some other partition is active and MBR is not capable of reading it.

fdisk from win98 destroyed grub, which was necessary for us to see what was the problem. It wrote some bootloader that will not boot xp, nor suse, I guess.
My best guess is: Boot the xp cd. There´s a utility to rewrite the mbr called something like xpboot.exe or makeboot. That will give you access to winXP. Then, run the suse cd, enter the recovery console and reinstall grub. But this reinstall will not automatically write an entry for xp. You´ll have to manually edit grub´s menu.lst.
