SuSE 9.1....how do you install AIM?
ok i have SuSE 9.1 and i downloaded the AIM version for it. i have seen that you log in as the root user, but how do you do this?

You have to logout and for the login name type root and for the password, the password you chose. Don't login as root on a regular bases, you should always login as a use and not as root.

ok i think i got it installed, but i cant find it anywhere to open it, or when i use run command it doesnt do anything
|
it should be in the start menu under internet -> chat
|
but isnt that still using kopete? i thought i was downloading a AIM only version?

If i remember correctly...When I installed aim for a friend of mline on SUSE 9.1 AIM didnt add an application launcher in the menu for me either. You can simply run aim from a terminal window with the command aim, or make your own application launcher in the menu. I dont use KDE so your on your own with that, but it should be as simple as right clicking on the menu clicking an option to add an application launcher.
