Suse 9.1 DVD Installation
 

I have Suse 9.1 DVD and am trying to do a clean install onto a 30GB HDD. The set up screen comes up and after selecting "Install" the kernell appears to load. After that, the screen goes blank and drives become silent. If I hit "Enter" the drive lights come on for a bit then go out again.

I'm thinking it has something to do with my video card.

P4 1.5, 512 ram, PNY NVidia AGP card.

Any ideas?

Mandrake 10.0 installs fine.

Is this DVD supposed to install the system?

Yep, the same DVD worked fine on a co-workers PC. I have even tried the CDRom version (one version earlier, I think) and had the same problem. After the kernel loads, the screen went blank and the drives died.

I don't know about SuSE 9.1, but I recently read Fedora release notes and this kind of problem was mentioned there. You had to enter some parameters to command line to

It was nofb

But you should probably check 9.1 installation notes.
