SuSe 9.1 and Audigy - driver ok, but no sound

I am having the same problem with both Suse 9.1 and Knoppix and it is that my sound card Audigy won't make a sound at all. All the drivers are OK, I have tried both OSS and ALSA (uninstalling the other) and still nothing comes out. The card works fine in XP on the same comp. I noticed that the OS is saying something like "will probe IRQs later" may it be an incorrect IRQ given to the card by the OS and how can I check and change it (I have ACPI enabled in the BIOS, but I have tried disabling it with no result).
Here is the hardware:
EpOX 8RDA+ (NForce2 chipset)
Barton 2500+
512 Dual DDR
Audigy Player
Powercolor Radeon 9600XT

Did you use alsamixer to unmute your channels when you used ALSA?
