SuSE 9.0 Kernel upgrade problem

I installed kernel-default-2.6.4-0i586.rpm using kpackage. When I rebooted my system there were no graphics just a terminal login.

How do I restore the original kernel? I have all 5 installation CDs for SuSE 9.0 professional. Can I use the rpm command to install k_athlon-2.4.21-99.i586.rpm from CD?

Thanks Brian

yes if thats the correct kernel.

I dont see why a kernel upgrade would have changed your Xserver settings unless your default runlevel got changed to 3.

Ive compiled and installed updated kernels from source and have never experienced this problem, but I wasnt using a precompiled rpm install.

I've restored my original kernel by running install and choosing the Repair option. As I'm new to Linux I panicked and had visions of having to reinstall and lose all my data, but that windows scenario doesn't apply with linux! ;-)
