suse 8.2 logon problem

Hello,
I just installed Suse 8.2 and it asks me for a user name and password

Upon installing suse it asked for a root password which I gave it

there was no spot where to input a user name

anywho....I'm at the GUI and it is prompting me for a user name and password

I have tried a variety of things such as no user name and the root password etc etc etc

nothing works....i think i may be missing something??

HALp! thanks

sign in as root, using the root password...then open a terminal such as xterm or konsole, and at the prompt, type adduser and that will walk you through creating a new user profile and password for yourself...

By the way,...

Don't log in graphically as root anymore,...

You can do too much damage that way.

Rather use su from a console for a command line program or kdesu to launch a graphical program...

It's better that way.
