suse 8.2 how to startx and stop x and install nvidias video drivers
 

ok everyone i have a evga 5700ultra video card i cant get x to start once i get it stop?? i cant get the drivers to install either any help would be very appreciated!! i am searching the site and am finding that suse 8.2 isnt abundant here?? thanks very much

i am getting this message in root...if this serveris no longer running,remove /tmp/.xo-lock and restart

Can't help you with your drivers but here is how I start and stop X:
open "Konsole" and log in as root:
su
Password: *********
once logged in as root in Konsole type:
init 3

Wait until PC is down to that level and then do what you have to do.
When finished type:
startx

This will get you back to the GUI
