SuSE 8.1 - Is there an interactive mode during load?

Having just started to play with SuSE 8.1 after using Red Hat for a while, I now need to stop my proxy server during system load to deal with a problem (it hangs completely whilst trying to load the SuSE-Firewalll at part 2 of the load procedure).

In Red Hat I would just enter the interactive mode by pressing "I" - how can I do this with SuSE 8.1?

you should be able to get to single mode

at lilo boot prompt run this

linux single

substitute linux with the name of your image as shown in the menu

Thanks, David - I'm ashamed, I should have thought of this myself, but you just get so used to watching the system booting up and loading into runlevel 5...
