Angry Suse 8.1 and Gnome Problem

I just installed Suse 8.1 in my machine and I wanted to run Gnome istead of KDE but I can't find the damn thing even tough I installed it, during installation. I tried to reinstall it but when i look in the folder that say gnome they are empty. Could it be a problem with the installation cd's or do i have to do something to activate the product? It doen;t eve appear in the KDE login screen. AHHHHHHH!

I'm really new to Suse or any linux.

Try a search in "yast -> install new software -> find" for "gnome", you should find some desktop packages - install them all. You should be able to choose gnome on login screen after installation and reboot (or at least init 1 and then init 5 again). If your CD does not contain the data (which i can't imagine) you can download it from a suse ftp-Server by choosing an appropiate adress (go to for a list) as your installation source (you do this in yast in the menu where you also can choose to install new packages).
Regards Maddie
