SuSE 7.1 driver for nvidia

Here it is:
I downloaded the driver GLX for my distribution and the other one for the kernel as rpm packages,I installed them and I configured the system with SaX
I checkmarked the GLX option in the videocard section and changed the driver from nv to nvidia.
Nothing has changed since i did that.I can't even run Tuxracer cause it's very slow.it seems that the only new thing that happens is the nvidia screen i get evertime i start and turn off.
What am i missing?

thanks in advance

at the root prompt run /sbin/3Ddiag, did it generate any error messages?

i installed the same a couple days ago. i guess you mustn't use SaX. you can try sax2 or edit the XF86Config manually. i don't remember why. i guess it was sth with the x-version. (i would need more memory). but i'm quite sure you mustn't use sax. good luck, jens
