SUSE 11 Wireless trouble
Hi
I've been looking for instructions on how to set up my wireless card in SUSE 11, but I've been having trouble finding instructions that are specific to SUSE 11. I have downloaded the driver. It is RT2561/RT61. I unzipped it but I can't figure out how to install it. From the instructions I found it said to cd to the directory, which I did, and then write Make Makefile or something like that. When I use the "Make" command, it just tells me, no such command exists. I am completely confused. I'm not a very experienced user, and right now I'm using windows to access internet. Hope I can be helped. Thanks! |
Does that card not work out of the box with openSUSE? I am pretty sure the drivers are included in openSUSE by default. When you run the network configuration tool is the card seen?

Actually the card is detected but it is not configured. When I click edit to configure it, it says something along the lines of are you sure you want to configure it, you should download the manufacturer's software. I did that, but I don't know how to use it.

You probably just need to download the firmware. Go to this page and download the firmware for rt2561. Unzip the file and copy rt2561.bin (or all the files if you wish) to /lib/firmware and then configure the card.

Make --> make
The command "make" is lower case. The case matters.
