SUSE 10 on 64 bit AMD

hey there, i've used different live versions of linux and ubuntu, but that was on my old 32 bit machine. when i built my new rig, i tried to install suse 10 on it, however after the initial screen, where i selected installation type, the screen went black and never came back. i waited about 10 minutes before just rebooting. it booted back to windows normally. according to the novell site, following the only screen i saw should have been a selection screen for partition management. has anyone else run into this problem?

i was wondering if perhaps my 64 bit processor is incompatable with suse 10 and i need the new version, 10.1. not really sure wats going on here, but im anxious to get my dual boot going. thoughts?

Probably not. 64-bit processors, whether AMD or Intel, are designed to be backwards compatible with 32-bit software. Pretty smart of those engineers, huh?
