Suse 10 CDRom and usb drive not responding.

I am running suse 10. When I click on my desktop I can see the cd rom and I can see my usb drive (when I have it inserted), but when I double click or try to open the icons nothing happens. The unit just sits there. Any ideas where to look? your help is much appreciated

using suse 10 your drives should mount automatically when you insert media. this is a goode feature of this distro. yast2 should have configured your drives for you . check with yast under hardware to see if your drives are mentioned

same problem..... USB drives

I am having the same problem. Altough not with CD'ws - both my DVD/CD drives are recognised, mounted and accessable fine.

However anything i plug into my 4-in-1 memory card reader (MMC, Memory Stick) or my external USB HDD are not automatically mounted.

They ARE automatically mounted when i log in as ROOT however!

SuSe 10.0.0, KDE.

I am also seeking a solution to have this work in the normal user account..... sick of swicthing users just to copy something to my backup HDD or to load pictures from my digicam or phone to the PC.

Thanks in advance.....
