Suse 10.1 Audio Problem

Hi,

I'm new to linux and I managed to install SuSe 10.1.

As of now I have a problem with my audio device it plays only for several minutes or sometimes just in seconds before it crashes when I'm using Amarok, Xine and other multi-media players..

Please help... Thank you in advance...

Best regards,

bytefang

Please post the details of your system, audio hardware, audio driver/subsystem being used, and other pertinent information.

bytefang 10-18-2006 08:13 PM

Sorry, I forgot to post it before.

My PC has the following specs.

PROCESSOR:
Sempron 2200+

CHIPSET:
North Bridge: VIA KM266Pro, South Bridge: VIA 8235

AUDIO:
Onboard 5.1 Channel, AC97 Audio Codec

RAM:
512 MB

Sorry Jant I don't know how to get info on this, driver/subsystem. Can you please teach me how.

jantman 10-18-2006 11:07 PM

to keep it simple, start by posting the entire output of dmesg

JonBrant 10-19-2006 12:27 AM

Hiya. Have you set up the card already? Did you just let the installer do it? I noticed that when I let the installer do it, it didn't work. So, if that's the case, in Gnome, click "Desktop" on the bottom bar, click Yast, on the left click "Hardware", then click sound. Click edit, choose "normal set up", hit next, hit test and make sure you hear it... next, finish.

Hopefully it's as simple as that or I'm not much use :( good luck!

bytefang 10-19-2006 08:04 PM

JonBrant, thank you for your reply but my my audio still crashes after a couple of minutes.

Jant, this is the the dmesg output
